LHC hints at closure of schools for three days in a week due to smog in Lahore

LAHORE (92 News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday hinted at the closure of schools for three days in a week due to the spread of smog in the provincial capital.

The court also two-day work from home in a week. Hearing the plea, Justice Shahid Karim remarked that the Punjab government is not looking serious in the matter. "There is an urgent need of international experts in this regard," he added.

He remarked that the factory or brink kiln involved in using banned material will not be sealed, but demolished. "Criminal cases will be registered against the factory owners," he observed.

He ordered the Environment Department to formulate the rules by the next hearing.

Justice Shahid Karim remarked that the Punjab government has failed to end smog. "Smog has increased to the dangerous level in Punjab," he added.
