LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) election tribunal issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on the appeals filed against the rejection of nomination papers of PTI candidates Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema in NA 133.

The tribunal was headed by Justice Shahid Jamil Khan. Counsel for the applicants contended that their clients had submitted the nomination papers on the basis of the information provided in the voters' registration. "The petitioners have committed no mistake and there is a legal room to make changes in the nomination papers," he contended.

Talking to the media, PTI candidate Jamshed Cheema said: “The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) should be given permission to contest the by-election. The PTI is the largest political party of the country and it cannot be ignored."

He asked the PML-N to let the PTI contest the election and see who has the vote bank in the constituency.
