LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday nullified accountability court's (AC) order declaring Nusrat Shehbaz, wife of PNL-N President Shehbaz Sharif, as an absconder.

A two member bench headed by Justice Sarfraz Dogar heard the plea of Nusrat Shehbaz against the AC order declaring her an absconder in money laundering reference. The court accepted Nusrat Shehbaz’s plea and directed her to appoint a representative in the accountability court.

LHC also directed her to become part of the court proceedings after recovering from the illness and meanwhile the appointed representative will brief wife of PML-N president about the developments in the case.

Earlier on Dec 8, AC declared PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif’s wife Nusrat Shahbaz as proclaimed offender in money laundering case.

Judge Jawadul Hassan extended judicial remand of Shehbaz and his son Hamza Shehbaz until December 12. The court observed that Nusrat Shehbaz was repeatedly summoned but she didn’t turn up.

During the hearing, the judge said the 30-day deadline that was given to Nusrat Shahbaz to appear before the court has expired.

Accused have to present arguments on the testimonies of National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) witnesses by themselves now, the judge remarked.

on the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif complained to judge that he is not being provided with medical facilities despite the fact that he is a cancer patient.

The judge said the court had ordered for a physiotherapist to be provided to the PML-N leader to tend him, to which Shehbaz said the court’s order was not complied with.

Advocate Amjad Pervez, who is representing the Shehbaz family in the case, didn’t appear in court as he was busy in the Supreme Court. The court gave him a last chance to cross-examine NAB witnesses at the next hearing.

The court adjourned the hearing until December 12.
