LHC orders ECP to give an immediate date for Punjab elections

LAHORE (92 News) - The Lahore High Court ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (EC) to give an immediate date for the elections in Punjab.

The single bench of the Lahore High Court issued a written decision containing 16 pages. The ECP has been ordered to hold elections in Punjab within 90 days. 

According to the written verdict, the date of the elections should be announced within the constitutional period.  The ECP should issue the notification after consulting the Punjab governor. "It should be ensured that the election is not delayed for more than 90 days." 

Earlier, the lawyer of the Election Commission had shown his inability to hold elections on time.
