LHC orders to impose ban on washing vehicles with hosepipes in Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for imposing ban on washing vehicles with hosepipes in Punjab. As per details garnered, LHC judge Justice Shahid Karim issued a written order on a petition seeking water conservation and controlling its wastage. The court banned the use of hosepipes while washing cars in Punjab and directed that vehicles be washed with water buckets instead. The households were also directed to use water buckets for washing their cars; the high court further called to launch an awareness campaign on water conservation. Moreover, the LHC asked the Punjab government to apprise of the measures taken for water conservation in the province. During the hearing, the prosecutor adopted a stance that the Punjab government is trying to amend legislation for stopping the wastage of water. The LHC also directed that all housing societies should present report about usage of water in next hearing.
