LHC dismisses plea for recovery of Fawad Chaudhary

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed the plea for the recovery of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary.

The court ruled that how they can nullify the FIR registered in Islamabad. "The IHC has power to quash the FIR registered in Islamabad. The FIR has been presented in court and how can it call a habeas corpus case," it ruled.

The Punjab IGP appeared in person in court. In a reply submitted to the LHC, the IGP said that the Fawad Chaudhary is not in the custody of the Punjab police and he is in the custody of the Islamabad police. "I received the WhatsApp message that Fawad Chaudhary had been taken to Islamabad. I would have presented him in the LHC had I come to know on time," he stated.

Earlier on Wednesday, the police had arrested Fawad Chaudhary from Lahore. He was produced in the Cantonment Courts to get his transit remand. On the court order, he underwent a medical examination.

On Tuesday, a case was registered against Fawad Chaudhary at the Kohsar police station on the complaint of the ECP secretary.

According to the FIR, Fawad Chaudhary had tried to create a hurdle in the electoral process in the country. Fawad Chaudhary had stated that the status of the ECP had been reduced to a clerk. "We will chase the people being appointed to the caretaker government till their conviction," he had said.
