LHC reinstates Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as Punjab CM

LAHORE (92 News) - Lahore High Court (LHC) reinstated Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as the Chief Minister of Punjab. The notification of Governor Punjab Balighur Rehman was suspended.

An affidavit was submitted by Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in the Lahore High Court. Chaudhry Parvez Elahi assured the court not to dissolve the assembly.

The Lahore High Court also restored the Punjab Cabinet.

Earlier, the full bench of Lahore High Court heard the petition against de-notification of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on behalf of the governor.

The larger bench remarked how we can stop the constitutional process of dissolution of the assembly. Give you more time, wish that such a situation does not arise.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's lawyer, Barrister Ali Zafar, apologized for giving an affidavit regarding not dissolving the assembly. Argued that adequate time should be given for the vote of trust. The Governor cannot remove the Chief Minister of Punjab by a notification, on which the court adjourned the hearing by giving Parvez Elahi's lawyers one more hour.
