LHC rejects contempt of court plea against Maryam Nawaz, Azam Nazir Tarar

LAHORE (92 News) - Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday rejected a contempt of court plea against PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz and Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, declaring it non-maintainble.

The court had reserved the verdict on the pleas seeking proceedings for contempt of court.

Rana Shahid, the petitioner, contended that Azam Nazir Tarar had uttered words against the judges of the apex court during a private TV program. He said that Azam Nazir Tarar had termed the suo motu notice taken by the SC about the elections as 'adventure'.

He said that Tarar had stated that the nation will pay the price for the suo motu notice, which is tantamount to making the judiciary controversial.
