LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has on Tuesday reserved its judgment over a petition seeking directives for Punjab government to make the inquiry report into the Model Town tragedy public. A petition was filed for the release of a judicial inquiry report carried out by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi into the killings of Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s (PAT) workers in 2014. The court reserved the verdict after hearing arguments. The court asked government’s counsel why was the report not made public to which the lawyer said that releasing the report wouldn’t be useful. To which, the bench observed if the victims of the incident wanted to know who the killers of their loved ones were, how can the government stop them. They have right to know, it added. Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar remarked that the court had called upon a response from the government regarding the Model Town incident report.
