ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial has declared the lifetime disqualification under the Article 62(1)(f) a draconian law.

He was heading a three-member bench hearing a petition regarding lifetime disqualification of PTI leader Faisal Vawda.

The CJP remarked that the facts will remain the same even the court nullifies the ECP order regarding the lifetime disqualification. "We will hear the present case cautiously and in detail. The question is that whether the ECP can order lifetime disqualification or not," he observed.

He remarked that the ECP has power to conduct investigations into the wrong affidavit. "The ECP rightly reviewed the facts in the Faisal Vawda case."

Waseem Sajjad observed that Faisal Vawda had contested the elections in 2018 and the application was filed for his disqualification after two years.

Farooq H Naik contended that the IHC had written in the verdict that Faisal Vawda admitted his dual nationality.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till October 6.
