Lithuanian mother gets custody of daughters

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ordered hand over the three girls to their mother a Lithuanian national after she filed a petition requesting recovery of her daughters from ex-husband Jamshid Siddique. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar was conducting hearing of suo motu notice of a Lithuanian woman’s plea of recovery of three daughters who are said to be in illegal custody of her ex-husband. Justice Saqib Nisar questioned the three girls if they knew Maimouna, to which the children responded in negative. Giving his remarks, he asked the officials to provide tea and biscuits to the mother and daughters. Justice Saqib Nisar observed that he has sympathy with the person who runaway with his children, adding that the mother has not met his daughters for seven years. Earlier, the court ordered to arrange a meeting of a Lithuanian woman with her daughters adding that the father would not be present on occasion. On Saturday, the CJP took notice of a Lithuanian woman’s plea of recovery of three daughters. Lithuanian national Maimouna Liskauskaite had filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) requesting recovery of daughters, Maryam, Amina and Ayesha from ex-husband Jamshid Siddique. The CJP had ordered Gujranwala District Police Officer (DPO) to appear along with the daughters of the petitioner in the court on Monday. Moreover, the apex court also ordered to place names of the petitioner and her ex-husband on the Exit Control List (ECL).
