Load-shedding continues in Punjab as Guddu thermal plant trips

KASHMORE (92 News) – Various districts in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab faced power outages on Thursday as three units of Guddu Thermal Power Plant tripped owing to dense fog. According to the reports, three units of Guddu Thermal Power Plant tripped leading to an immediate shortfall of 747MW of electricity. The disruption in power supply has rendered districts across Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab without electricity. Following to failure of power plant, the tripped unit badly affect on the National Transmission And Dispatch Company’s (NTDC) six circuits of the 500KV and 15 circuits of 200KV. Due to the shortage of electricity production, the duration of load-shedding extended the areas of LESCO, FESCO and MEPCO. According to the spokesperson of WAPDA, the work is being in progress to restore electricity unit. It also said that the fog affected on the failure of power plant. Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) temporarily extended the duration of load-shedding in Punjab, including Lahore, as there was a shortfall of 250MW after the plants tripped.
