ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The load-shedding continued in parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan on Sunday as three power plants tripped due to technical fault in Guddu Power Plant. According to the electricity spokesperson, the teams have started the work to restore the electricity supply. It also said that they are already working on load management plan to provide electricity to the people. It was informed that 21 circuits of National Transmission & Dispatch Company (NTDC) have been affected by the tripping of the station. It is pertinent here to mention that the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) had announced extension in the load-shedding duration in cities of Punjab including Lahore owing because four power plants were tripped due to bad weather and smog. On Jan 2, the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) announced an extension in the duration of load-shedding across Punjab. The shortfall is causing a power outage after every one hour in Lahore as at least four of power plants tripped due to smog and technical faults. The shortfall of 3000MW electricity due to the power plants tripped. The Guddu, Baloki, Nishat and Nishat Choniyan power plants tripped causing a shortfall of 250 MW, officials confirmed. On Jan 3, various districts in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab faced load-shedding on Thursday as three units of Guddu Thermal Power Plant tripped owing to dense fog. Three units of Guddu Thermal Power Plant tripped leading to an immediate shortfall of 747MW of electricity. The disruption in power supply has rendered districts across Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab without electricity. On Jan 4, the load-shedding in the parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan continued on consecutive third day as the power shortfall exceeded 4400 MW. As per details, load-shedding disrupted the life of citizens worsened as Islamabad and Lahore faced severe power outrage. Due to the power cut, the load-shedding duration reached 12-hour in big cities while 14-hour in rural areas.
