Load-shedding continues on 3rd day as power shortfall exceeds 4400MW

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE (92 News) – (92 News) – The load-shedding in the parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan continued on consecutive third day as the power shortfall exceeded 4400 MW. As per details, load-shedding disrupted the life of citizens worsened as Islamabad and Lahore faced severe power outrage. The consumers in many urban and rural areas of Punjab faced a terrible situation for a third consecutive day on Friday. It was reported that different power plants, transmission lines and grid stations tripped again either due to dense fog or technical fault, forcing major power distribution companies (Discos) to resort to shutdowns and load management for several hours. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) authorities on Friday informed that total production of electricity in 9800MW while demand is more than 12500MW. The power sector said that low voltage, tripping and unannounced long hours power cuts are likely to continue until weather conditions improve. Earlier it was informed that four power plants were tripped due to bad weather and smog.
