Cholistan farmers will be allotted lands for temporary cultivation, says Ch Pervaiz Elahi

LAHORE (92 News) – Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the local farmers of Cholistan will be allotted government land for temporary cultivation.

A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi. In the meeting, it was decided that 20,000 farmers will be allotted land through transparent lottery for the period of 5-year for temporary cultivation. Another five thousand farmers will be given land in Cholistan in the second phase. The draw for the first phase allotment will be conducted by the Punjab Information Technology Board. Allocating land for temporary cultivation will increase economic activities in the area. The problems of farmers of Cholistan will be solved on priority basis.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the people of Cholistan also have an equal right to the resources. “Giving lands to the landless farmers of Cholistan will change their fortunes.”

Special Assistant Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Member of Assembly Chaudhry Muhammad Ahsan, Senior Member Board of Revenue Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister GM Sikandar, MD Cholistan Development Authority and related officials attended the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur participated in the meeting through video link.
