ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has said that the lockdown has been imposed in Mardan due to a surge in the coronavirus cases.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Tuesday, he said that lockdown can be imposed in more cities if the situation did not improve.

“The government is trying to activate the oxygen plants. It is a wrong impression that the government is relying on vaccine received as gift,” he maintained.

He said that the people would have to celebrate Eid with simplicity. “The SOPs is the most effective thing to control the spread of coronavirus,” he added.

Faisal Sultan said that the government has started registration of over 40 years. “The walk-in facility of vaccination for over 50 people will start from today,” he maintained.

He said that 88,000 people were vaccinated on Monday. “About two million people have been vaccinated so far,” he added.
