Lost nothing but gained from meeting with PM: CJP

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday said that he has lost nothing and gained a lot from his recent meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. Reacting to meeting with PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi while hearing a case related to the illegal constructions in Murree, he said that he will not disappoint his institution and lawyers. The CJP urged the judiciary and lawyers to trust him. Justice Saqib Nisar went on to say that it is his duty to hear the complaint of everyone, adding that the prime minister came but he didn’t give him (Shahid Khaqan Abbasi) anything. Earlier on Tuesday, the prime minister held a meeting with the CJP in Islamabad. Abbasi assured Justice Saqib Nisar that the government would provide all resources to judiciary in order to provide easy, speedy and inexpensive justice to the people during the meeting. The chief justice assured the prime minister that he would look into the matter and such litigation shall be fast tracked. The chief justice also assured the prime minister that judiciary would continue to perform its constitutional duties independently, fairly, transparently, without fear and strictly in accordance with law.
