LRA asks Punjab Food Authority to stop illegal action against restaurants

LAHORE (92 News) – Lahore Restaurants Association has asked the Punjab Food Authority to stop illegal action against restaurants otherwise protest will be held against the department. Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, Association members said that the Punjab Food Authority is illegally sealing and imposing fine on different restaurants in the provincial capital. Association members said that restaurants cannot be sealed immediately throughout the world, first the authorities serve notice and after two days they can seal or impose. They said that Punjab Food Authority was maligning the reputation of national and multinational brands through a campaign on the social media. “It is unjustified and beyond its mandate. The association members said that the PFA raids at restaurants had become a routine and were hurting their business, adding that the scope of the authority’s operations had been limited to Lahore. He said there was no check on restaurants in rest of the province. They demanded the chief minister Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the matter and stop the PFA from harassing restaurant owners, otherwise the association would start a protest campaign against the authorities.
