Machh Tragedy: Protest enters 6th day as relatives refuse to bury coal miners till PM visits

QUETTA (92 News) – Following to killing of 11 coal miners in Balochistan's Machh, protest of Hazara community continued on the sixth consecutive day (Friday) as the slain relatives refused to bury the coal miners till the visit of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

According to the reports, thousands of Hazara community members along with families and relatives of ten slain miners, who were shot dead in Machh area of Kachhi district, continue their sit-in on Quetta’s Western Bypass with dead bodies during the intense cold weather.

Even -10°C could not freeze the spirits of the victim families of slain miners. Images of helplessness and oppression Hazara men, women, children and the elderly are holding sit-in with bodies of their love ones.

The government officials tried to end the sit-in, but the protesters still waiting for the premier. "Women say that Imran Khan is the ruler of the time, if you don't call him, who should you complain to?."

The latest round of negotiations between government representatives and organisers of sit-in protests also remained unsuccessful. The sit-in protesters are still awaiting Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrival in Quetta to meet the bereaved families of victims of Machh coalmine massacre.

Earlier on Thursday, leaders of various political parties reached Quetta to express solidarity with the families and relatives of 11 slain coal miners.

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri reached Quetta to express solidarity with the bereaved families.
