LAHORE (92 News) - Several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and the federal capital were jolted overnight with a medium intensity earthquake in Tuesday's small hours.
As per reports, the 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck various cities including Dir, Gilgit, Chitral and Mansehra at 3:08am overnight. The epicenter of the earthquake was said to be in Nuristan area of Afghanistan in the Hindukush range 22km west of Ashkasham, Afghanistan. According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.5 on the Richter scale. It took place at a depth of 189.5 kilometers. The tremors were also felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Abbottabad, and several areas of Kashmir.
There are no reports of loss of life and material.
