Magnitude 5.8 quake hits KP, Northern Areas and parts of Punjab

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - An earthquake of 5.8 magnitude hit parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa (KP), Northern Areas, parts of Punjab and Islamabad on Monday morning.    The tremors were felt in Malakand, Noshehra, Swat, Dir Bala, South and North Waziristan, Swabi, Kuram Agency, Noshehra, Chitral, Peshawar, Balakot, Islamabad, Murree, Sargodha and Faisalabad. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Islamabad, the epicentre of tremor was Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan and its depth was at 157 kilometers. The intensity of tremors was recorded 5.8 on the Richter scale. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far. On September 24, a quake with 5.6 magnitude devastated Mirpur district largely and affected other parts of Azad and Jammu Kashmir, leaving 40 people dead and over 800 injured. Hundreds of structural damages were reported in the quake.
