RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Major General Nigar Johar HI (M) has been promoted as lieutenant general, said a press release issued by the ISPR on Tuesday. She is the first female officer to be promoted as lieutenant general and appointed as 1st female Surgeon General of Pakistan Army. Lieutenant General Nigar Johar hails from Panjpeer, District Swabi KPK, and is currently serving as Commandant Military Hospital Rawalpindi. In a tweet, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said: “Promotion of Major General Nigar Johar to the rank of Lt General, the first lady officer to reach this position in the history of Pakistan, is a powerful message to our girls and women to aspire for the impossible in life.
