ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar has said that the majority judges of the Supreme Court has rejected the suo motu notice.

In response to the decision of the Supreme Court, he said that the decision was given not by five, but by seven judges while two judges had already disagreed with it.

"The decision regarding the elections should be made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). However, the federal government will accept the decisions of the court," he declared.

The minister said that the Attorney General had considered the second paragraph of Justice Mansoor's note to be important, saying that the dissenting note stated that he agreed with the two judges' note.

He said that the government's legal team will not file a review petition of the court decision. "The court proceedings has taken place hastily."

He alleged that President Arif Alvi had violated the law. "The cases are still pending with both the High Courts and the interpretation will be there. We are saying on record that no one is running away from the election," he maintained.
