Malaysia reinstates Pakistani pilots after verifying licences

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – Malaysia has verified that all Pakistani pilots currently employed in the country hold valid licences and it has reinstated them with immediate effect, its aviation regulator said. In a statement, the pilots were suspended earlier this month after authorities in Pakistan discovered that up to a third of the country’s pilots may have falsified their qualifications. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Malaysia said 18 Pakistani pilot licence holders in Malaysia were verified by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. Earlier this month, the pilots were suspended after authorities in Pakistan discovered that up to a third of the country’s pilots may have falsified their qualifications. The Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority had written to Pakistan after the matter of fake licenses of pilots in the country was raised. It wanted Pakistan to check the credibility of the licences of the pilots working in Malaysia. After it was confirmed that the licences were credible, the country reinstated all the pilots grounded there.
