Malnutrition, premature births main cause of infant deaths in Thar

THARPARKAR (92 News) - Hundreds of children in famine-hit Mithi, Chachro, Nagarparkar, Diplo are lingering on the last breaths of their lives at various hospitals due to lack of medical facilities. Doctors say the main cause of infants’ death is mother’s malnutrition, premature births and low-weight of the children. Provincial government’s negligence has added to the miseries of Thar residents. So far, 191 children have lost their lives this year, whereas, the death toll escalated to 646 in 2014.
