Mansha Bomb case: SC seeks land details from city authorities

LAHORE (92 News) – The Supreme Court on Sunday sought a detailed report from the city authorities required in Mansha Bomb case. A two-judge bench headed by the chief justice heard a suo motu notice against alleged land grabber Mansha Bomb, who is accused of possessing billions of rupees’ worth of illegally acquired land, at the Supreme Court's Lahore Registry. During the hearing, the chief justice remarked that according to which law the “patwar circle” was working and what the role of the revenue department was pertaining to residential areas. District Commissioner Lahore told the court that the Lahore Development Authority had yet to hand over to the petitioner the land recovered from Mansha. Mansha had bought 32 kanals of land back in 1992, which he sold later, the deputy commissioner informed the bench. The bench then sought a detailed report from the Lahore Development Authority, the revenue department and the district government on the recovery of land from Mansha and its return to the rightful owners. Earlier on Saturday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar had ‎directed concerned authorities to hand over the lands recovered from grabber to their ‎real owners. Mansha hailed from Lahore and allegedly ran a large land grabbing ring in Johar Town area of the ‎metropolis. He was wanted by the law enforcement agencies in over 90 cases of land encroachment, ‎firing at the police, murder and attempted murder.‎ On October 15, Mansha surrendered himself before the Supreme Court and was taken into custody.
