Many still missing as boat capsizes in River Sutlej near Okara

OKARA (92 News) – As many as eight bodies were recovered and many other are missing as a boat capsized in River Sutlej near Okara on Monday. According to the details garnered, several people drowned when a boat capsized in River Sutlej in Okara district. The rescue teams reached at the spot and eight bodies have been recovered. The rescue teams are searching the other bodies in the river. It was reported that the incident took place in Malhu Sheikha area of the district. Identities of the deceased were not immediately known. Earlier, six more bodies were recovered during the search operation that continued for the second day. The bodies of four children and two women have been recovered. The boat carrying 50 passengers was on the way when it capsized. The Pak Army also participated in the rescue operation. Divers from Haripur, Peshawar, Nowshera and Abbottabad searched for the missing people. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced Rs500,000 as compensation for each victim and Rs100,000 for each injured.
