Markets to remain closed till August 5 across Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) - Markets across Punjab will remain closed till August 5 in line with the government's measures to control the spread of coronavirus during Eidul Azha. This decision was taken during a meeting of the COVID-19 Cabinet Committee chaired by Law Minister Raja Basharat at the Chief Minister’s House in which Mian Aslam Iqbal and other ministers participated. However, medical stores, daily-use shops, transport and offices will remain open. Punjab Minister for Information Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has announced that there will be strict lockdown in the province’s markets till next Wednesday and the decision will be implemented from tonight. The minister said that Eidul Fitr SOPs will also be implemented on Eidul Azha as well. He said that SOP implementation in cattle markets will be ensured and the decision to reopen theaters, restaurants and other recreational areas will be discussed after Muharram.
