ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar on Thursday said that the markets will open for five days a week after sehri but they will have to close at 5pm. Briefing about decision taken at the National Coordination Committee (NCC), the minister said that small markets and shops in mohallas and rural areas will be allowed to open from Fajar to 5 pm. “We had decided to reopen our construction industry. Now we have decided to reopen more sectors related to the industry,” Asad Umar stated, as he explained that earlier decision to give permission to bigger markets to reopen will now be expanded to cover smaller markets as well. The minister said the entire business, except outlets of essential items like food and medicines will remain closed in two days of the week. He said that the government deliberated opening markets after iftar but ended up deciding that markets should not open at night. “Our police officials need a much-needed respite [from enforcing lockdown measures]. OPDs in hospitals, which were shut during the lockdown, will now reopen in selected and reserved hospitals across the country,” he maintained.
