Maryam Nawaz pays homage to martyred Benazir Bhutto

LARKANA (92 News) - Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday paid a great tribute to martyred Muhtarama Benazir Bhutto on her 13th death anniversary.

Addressing a gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Maryam Nawaz termed the assassination of Benazir Bhutto as a national tragedy. She said that despite the passage of 13 years, their wounds were still fresh.

Maryam Nawaz said that she was an ideal daughter, mother and the first female prime minister of the Muslim world. "Benazir Bhutto is nation pride. She had to lay down her life during her struggle. Benazir fought for her father’s struggle and vision," she explained, adding that she also wanted to fight for her father’s ideology.

Maryam Nawaz revisited the political relationship of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto, saying that both suffered at the hands of anti-democratic forces. She said that can laid her life for the ideology of her father.

"When the PPP came into power in 2008, many wanted PML-N to topple the government. But Nawaz Sharif was strongly against it and said political parties do not conspire against or for anyone to form governments, but the public is responsible for electing a party into power," she added.

"Despite political differences, the leadership of the PDM was on one stage life a family, the PML-N leader said, adding that these were the political values that were initiate by Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto."

Ahead of this, Maryam was welcomed at Naudero House, as were other PDM leaders. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari hosted a luncheon for PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, PkMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai and BNP-Mengal President Sardar Akhtar Mengal at Naudero House.

After the luncheon, leaders of the PDM constituent parties left for Garhi Khuda Bux where the PPP is holding a rally to mark former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s 13th death anniversary.
