Mashal murder case: Main accused Arif arrested from Mardan

MARDAN (92 News) – The police on Thursday arrested Arif, the main accused of the Mashal murder case, from Ring Road area, Mardan. Mishal was brutally beaten and shot dead at the Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, in April 2017. The allegations of blasphemy against him were later shown to be false. The police have so far arrested 60 accused. Total 62 accused had been nominated in the case. Earlier, a division bench of the Peshawar High Court, including Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Syed Atiq, had granted bail to 25 people who were sentenced to prison terms of three to four years. Twenty-six accused were acquitted by the court for lack of evidence.
