Meeting with Chinese president was vital before his Indian visit: FM

BEIJING (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Wednesday that Meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping was important before his Indian short visit. He was speaking in Beijing about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s meetings with the Chinese leadership. “The Chinese president is paying a short informal visit to India and it was our mutual desire to take each other into confidence regarding the visit,” he maintained. FM Qureshi has said such unique is the relationship between Pakistan and China that they always take each other into confidence on all important matters. He said it is the third visit of the Prime Minister to China in the last thirteen months.
China supports Pakistan’s historic position on Kashmir issue
The foreign minister said that the Chinese Foreign Minister at the recent meeting of UN General Assembly session expressed his concerns on the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). He said China has a very clear position on Kashmir dispute and it supports Pakistan’s historic position on the festering dispute.
Economic Cooperation
He further said that during the meeting with Chinese leadership, economic cooperation and CPEC were discussed. He said that it was decided to set up a desalination plant to redress water shortage in Gwadar. Earlier, FM Qureshi has said that Pakistan and China signed different MoUs related to the development projects and enhancing relations between the both the countries. While speaking to the journalists at Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing, FM Qureshi said Pakistan shared its assessment and feedback from the Indian Occupied Kashmir with the Chinese leadership.
China, Russia want peace, reconciliation in Afghanistan
FM Qureshi said both the sides also discussed the Afghan peace process. He mentioned that China, Russia and other regional countries want peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and the development in the region for which Pakistan is playing its role. He also said the Chinese leadership had been taken into confidence on all the issues.
