Memogate Case: SC summons Secy interior, foreign affairs & FIA DG

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday rejected the review petition filed by former Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani and summoned secretary interior, secretary foreign affairs and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General on the next hearing. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprises of Justice Umar Atta Bandial and Justice Ejazul Hassan heard the suo motu case. During the proceedings, the petitioner was of the view that Hussain Haqqani had assured the court of returning to the country, however, now he is denying. The court dismissed Hussain Haqqani’s petition. The bench expressed surprise that why has this case not been listed for the last four years. “I will ask SC why did the office not put up file for the fixation of case” he observed. The top court further summoned secretary interior, secretary foreign affairs and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General on the next hearing.
