Mercury drops after snow, rain in parts of country

LAHORE (92 News) – As the fresh wave of cold hit parts of country after a new system of rain and snowfall began in the country, a new spell of rains and snowfall has begun in different parts of the country. The intensity of cold weather doubled after the fresh spell in Quetta. The temperature dropped to freezing level in Quetta and to seven degrees below zero in Kalat. Rain lashes various areas of the country while snowfall blankets the northern areas, while the twin cities and Murree received light rain in the morning which enhanced the coolness in the weather. The tourist towns also witnessed mild snow which was followed by intermittent rain the whole day. Meanwhile, rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at a number of places in Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while at isolated places in upper Sindh on Tuesday. Rainfall recorded during last 12 hours: Dir 35 mm, Quetta 29, Parachinar 20, Dir 13, Chitral 12, Saidu Sharif 10, Zhob and Peshawar 4 mm.
