Mercury likely to touch 40 °C in Karachi today

KARACHI (92 News) – The current hot spell in Karachi is likely to persist till tomorrow, with maximum temperature expected to reach 40 °C on Sunday (today). Mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country in next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the sea winds have been closed and the weather became more dry and hot. The heat wave has gripped the metropolis and the citizens disrupted due to the high temperature while emergency has been imposed in government hospitals. The low pressure in the Arabian Sea hampers routine sea breeze to the city during the heat wave and hot and dry winds could blow from north and northwest, the heat wave warning centre said. The medical experts have advised people to take precautions in order to keep themselves safe from the heatwave. People should avoid going out from their homes and offices unless important and keep a wet handkerchief at all times. Earlier, rain lashed different cities across the country.Lahore, Rawalpindi, Nowshehra and Attock received rain. Rain was also reported in Murree,Mianwali and other areas. A shallow westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to grip upper/central parts of the country. The mountainous areas across the country including Swat, Kalam Valley and surrounding areas received snow fall. Tourists were trapped due to blockage of roads. Locals said that they were facing numerous problems due to blockage roads. They also complained about electricity supply suspension for last two days Snowfall made the weather more chilly.
