Met Office had predicted heavy snowfall in northern areas: NDMA chairman

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz has said that the Met Office had already predicted heavy snowfall in the northern areas.\

Talking to 92 News, NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz said that they had established 7-8 camps where arrangements have been made to provide food to the stranded tourists.

He said that they were dealing with the emergency situation in the best way.

"Several routes have been opened. All institutions are jointly working. Thousands of people were stranded in Murree. I cannot give the deadline to complete the rescue operation. However, we are trying to complete the operation at the earliest," he added.

The NDMA chairman said that the people stuck in vehicles had been shifted to safer places.
