Mian Channu lynching case: Multan ATC remands 31 accused in police custody for 15 days

MULTAN (92 News) – An anti-terrorism court remanded 31 accused involved in the lynching of a man in the police custody for 15 days.

Earlier, the accused were presented in court amid tight security.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has formed a two-member prosecution team to assist the investigation team.

The Punjab Government spokesperson said that the accused were arrested after conducting raids at different places. Deputy Prosecutor General Muhammad Arshad Leghari presented the arguments.

The accused included Rafaqat, Ansar Hussain, Ansar Hussain, Muhammad Shafique, Muhammad Riaz, Shan, Nadeem, Qaisar, Shanawar, Shafique, Shahbaz, Kashif, Mushtaq Ahmed, Idrees, Yaqoob, Arshad, Asif, Abdul Ghani, Aslam, Allah Ditta, Umar Hayat, Bilal, Mahboobur Rehman, Naeem and Nadeem.

On February 12, a man was lynched for blasphemy in Jungle Dera village, Tulamba. A case was registered against the accused under sections 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly of people), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 302 (intentional murder) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to the FIR, a man accused of blasphemy was found tortured to death by a mob when the police reached the site.
