KARACHI (92 News) - Former finance minister Miftah Ismail has advised the government to approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to avoid the default.

Expressing his views in 92 News Program 'Breaking Views with Malack' on Tuesday, he said that the reason behind the economic problems is a delay in approaching the IMF.

"The government will have to take stern decisions. If you will repay US$20 billion, it will have to be repaid after getting the loan," he maintained.

He said that the government should introduce the reforms even though the IMF does not asks it to do so. "These are difficult decisions politically, but we should do it for the country," he added.
