Miftah Ismail answers 30 questions of NAB in LNG scandal

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – Former finance minister Miftah Ismail on Wednesday submitted the answers of 30 questions given by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) scandal on Wednesday. Miftah Ismail appeared before NAB and has recorded his statement over 30 questions prepared by the NAB team.
LNG scandal: NAB summons Miftah Ismail
On Jan 9, the NAB has summoned former finance minister with all records in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) scandal as former chairman SSGCL Board on January 11 in Rawalpindi.
The NAB Executive Board has converted the LNG inquiry into investigation against former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former minister for petroleum and natural resources Arshad Mirza, former secretary petroleum Sheikh Imranul Haq, former MD PSO Yaqub Sattar, Deputy Managing PSO. It said that the NAB asked the Miftah Ismail that to appear on January 11 at the National Accountability Bureau Rawalpindi before NAB Investigation Officer for discussion and recording your statement being ex-chairman of SSGC Board on LNG Terminal to ETPL, LSA with EETPL, Tri-Partite Agreement and LNG Import from Qatar etc. It further warned that failing to comply with the notice may entail penal consequences as provided in Serial 2 of the schedule of NAO1999. On 25 October 2018, the NAB reopened the LNG scandal against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. The NAB has decided to summon the former premier for investigation. However, the NAB sought all records from the concerned ministries. On September 10, 2018, the Supreme Court directed NAB to complete inquiry against former premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others for alleged corruption in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) contract with Qatar and submitted report on it.
