QUETTA (92 News) – President Balochistan Awami Party Mir Jam Kamal Khan has been elected as the Balochistan chief minister. He secured 39 votes while his rival candidate belonging to MMA JUI (F) Mir Younas Aziz Zehri bagged 20 votes. The session of Balochistan Assembly was presided by speaker Abdul Quddus Bizenjo. Mir Jam Khan born on January 1, 1973 in Lasbela district of Balochistan, Jam Kamal is the third member of his family to hold the post of Balochistan chief minister. His father and BAP chief, Jam Muhammad Yousaf, had served on the post 2002 to 2007, while his grandfather, Jam Mir Ghullam Qadir Khan, had remained chief minister of Balochistan during non-party elections in 1985. During Pervez Musharraf’s regime, Jam Kamal was appointed as nazim for district Lasbela. In 2013 tenure of PML-N, he stayed on position of state minister for petroleum and natural resources. He continued to serve in Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s cabinet after Nawaz Sharif’s ouster, but resigned from his post and membership of the PML-N in April this year. He was elected chief of the BAP in May.
