Hopefully all institutions will work as per constitution, says Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that hopefully all institutions will work as per constitution.

Addressing a ceremony on Friday, he said that the armed forces are neutral and have no role in politics as per constitution. "A man sometime term the armed forces as neutral and sometime doubts their neutrality. The Pak Army leadership should be free from rumours," he maintained.

Khawaja Asif said that the misuse of the social media is a problem all over the world. "The media should play a positive role under the present circumstances. Information about the basic problems, including climatic change, can be spread through the media. During the present era, no war can be fought without the media," he opined.

Khawaja Asif said that the social media is playing a role in politics, a war and the establishment.

"The media strategy has gained much more importance. Our region has been facing the terrorism issue for few decades. Extremists are also using the media for the last few decades," he added.

He said that the society underwent economic changes at a fast pace.

"Peace in Pakistan is linked to peace in Afghanistan. We do not want to intervene in the Afghanistan situation. Our armed forces have been attacked from inside Afghanistan along the border. They are ready to deal with each situation. The TTP will not be allowed to succeed in Pakistan," he concluded.
