Senate Elections: Mixed views on amendment to curb horse-trading

LAHORE (92 News) – PML-N government is making an all-out effort to eliminate horse-trading during Senate Elections with securing support for the proposed 22^nd Amendment to the Constitution, however, all parties are not on the same page. Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said his party fully supports an end to horse-trading but constitutional amendment should only be made if all parties find consensus. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Arif Alvi affirmed his party’s full support for the constitutional amendment. He said the matter of PTI’s return to National Assembly will be sought later. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) parliamentary leader Sahibzada Tariq Ullah said JI has always opposed horse-trading, adding that people in favour and opposition of the constitutional amendment will soon be exposed to the public. Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said ANP sacks people who are found involved in any horse-trading. Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) leader Dr. Farooq Sattar said, “Reigns should be pulled of soul-selling horses.” He added that every party has its own point of view on horse-trading.
