MNA Sheikh Rashid granted bail in Madina Muanwara incident case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Aditional Sessions Judge Muhammad Arif granted bail to MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique, nephew of former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed, in a case related to the Madina Munawara incident on Monday.

The court ordered to release him after furnishing surety bonds worth Rs 100,000.

Sardar Abdur Razzaq, counsel for Sheikh Rashid Shafique, contended that his client was not present there at the time when slogans were being raised. He said that case plaintiff belongs to the PML-N. "The act of religious blasphemy does not apply to his client because slogans were raised against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif."

He said that slogans had nothing to do with Rashid Shafique.

He said that the case was an outcome of revengeful activities started by PM Shehbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah.

On April 30, Sheikh Rashid Shafique was arrested at the airport on his return from Saudi Arabia.
