ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said the Modi-led Indian government has been involved in gross human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). Chairing a consultative meeting about the rising situation in IoK, the foreign minister has termed that the intolerant attitude of India is dangerous for peace in the region. The meeting also reviewed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on this issue of core importance and stressed on the need for informing the world countries and related institutions about the volatile situation of the held territory. Shah Mehmood Qureshi also briefed the participants on the government’s decision to send special envoys to important capitals for highlighting the gravity of the situation in IoK and its implications for regional as well as global peace and security. Earlier, FM Qureshi has said that genocide of minorities is being committed in India, while Muslims are being massacred in New Delhi. Talking to the media along with OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir Yousef M Al Dobeay on Tuesday, he said that the situation in the Occupied Kashmir is very critical. “The lockdown is continuing for the last seven months. The OIC has fully supported Pakistan over the Kahmir dispute,” he said.
FM Qureshi said that the special envoy was briefed in detail on the human rights situation in Occupied Kashmir. He said that the visiting dignitary was also briefed on situation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the targeting of innocent civilians by Indian forces. “Carnage of minorities, especially the Muslims, continues in India. The Muslims were recently massacred in New Delhi where police and security forces acted as silent spectators.” Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the Indian steps pose a serious threat to peace and security in the region, an example of which was manifested in February last year when both India and Pakistan came to the brink of war. “Pakistan is a founding member of the OIC and there are many resolutions of the body on the Kashmir issue. The people of Pakistan have large expectations from the OIC to play its role in the resolution of Kashmir issue.”
