Monsoon rains, floods death toll reaches 1,162

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The death toll from torrential monsoon rains and floods since the onset of the rainy season across the country has reached 1,162.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, 1941 individuals were also injured in various rains and flood related incidents. 405 people died in Sindh, 257 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 249 in Balochistan. Similarly, 187 people lost their lives in Punjab, 41 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 22 in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Islamabad.

A total of 3554 people were injured across the country due to torrential monsoon rains and floods. 243 bridges have been destroyed by flood while 5063 km of highways have been damaged.

According to a situation report issued by NDMA, more than 10 lakh 51 thousand houses were affected while more than 7 lakh cattle were swept away in the flood.
