LAHORE (92 News) – The Muslim holy month of Ramazan begins on Tuesday across Pakistan on the same day after three years. Authorities in Pakistan had announced the new moon of Ramazan was spotted on Monday evening. Muslims believe Ramazan to be the month in which the first verses of the holy Quran, were revealed to the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) more than 1,400 years ago. The faithful spend the month of Ramazan in mosques for evening prayers known as "Taraweeh", while free time during the day is often spent reading the holy Quran and listening to religious lectures. Each day for the month of Ramazan, Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and smoking from sunrise to sunset to focus on spirituality, good deeds and charity. Several cities including Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi have faced power outage during the first sehr of the holy month of Ramazan.
