KARACHI (92 News) – The prevailing spell of monsoon in Karachi was expected to bring more rain on Tuesday, weather department said.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that the latest monsoon spell, which caused heavy showers on Sunday and Monday, is expected today (Tuesday).
Power was also suspended in multiple areas as a precautionary measure by K-Electric to prevent further electrocutions.
Rain inundates roads, brings traffic to a standstill in Karachi
Rain on Monday choked Karachi as roads were flooded and traffic came to a standstill. The people were stuck for almost six hours near Brookes Chowrangi after the EBM Causeway was flooded following heavy rains yesterday.
Once again incompetency of local bodies in Karachi, the mercury has become trouble for the citizens. No drainage system for rainwater at Korangi, Landhi and Qayyamabad.
The roads from Korangi Crossing to Akhtar Colony and Industrial Area are still under underwater as traffic jammed. The citizens are facing severe trouble due to the rain water.
The rain left a number of roads, residential lanes, parks, and markets with puddles of stagnant water. Malir’s Model Colony was inundated with sewerage water, while Khuda Ki Basti, Surjani Town, and Gulshan-e-Maymar were completely submerged.
Rainfall turned roads into swimming pools at the place of lighthouse. Following to this, the business has been stuck as the stores were locked and the people who earn money for selling the products on pedestrian become unemployed.
The streets of North Karachi were also become ponds of rainwater, as citizens criticized the federal and Sindh government for their negligence.
The locals have been directed to use alternative routes. The traffic police have instructed the citizens to use Jam Sadiq Bridge instead of Korangi Causeway road.
On the other hand, the residents have appealed to the authorities to drain out the rainwater as they are facing a lot of difficulties owing to the suspension of the traffic flow.
