Motorcyclists to be fined Rs1000 over not wearing a helmet in Punjab

LAHORE (92 News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to fine Rs1000 motorcyclist over not wearing helmet. The court ordered that indiscriminate action against the motorcyclists riding without wearing a helmet from September 23. Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi of the LHC heard the petition of a citizen Abdullah Malik, who had adopted that there are a large number of people riding bikes without helmet. This has increased traffic accidents and hence casualties in these accidents. CTO Lahore also appeared before the court. The court ordered the CTO to make sure traffic rules are strictly observed. Accepting the CTO’s plea, the LHC has made it compulsory for the motorcyclists to wear a helmet while those not wearing a helmet will be fined Rs 1000.
