Motorway gang-rape case: Main accused Abid still at large even after 14 days

LAHORE (92 News) – The main accused, Abid Malhi, is still at large even after 14 days of the Motorway gang-rape case. According to the reports, the police adopted all the traditional and modern mechanism to trace the suspect but they have failed to arrest the prime suspect of the motorway incident. The investigation teams have extended the circle to other provinces. However, many relatives of the main accused and wife is also under custody of the police. Twenty-six teams formed to trace the culprits have failed so far. The police could not find the main accused even at the hideouts pointed out by the arrested accused Shafqat and Balla Mistry. Earlier, the police have issued the pamphlets the amount of reward, Rs2.5 million, for the critical information that will lead to the arrest of main suspect in the motorway gang-rape case Abid Malhi. According to the police, for the arrest of main suspect Abid Ali, the authorities have prepared pamphlets to distribute amongst people and stick on the walls. The pamphlets, with suspects face and the reward money, are meant to mobilize citizens to facilitate the police into capturing the absconding suspect booked for the assault, gang-rape and robbery with the mother of two on Lahore Motorway link-road. The police have notified on the pamphlets the amount of reward, Rs2.5 million, for the critical information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect and two of his photographs to establish his possible appearances. The pamphlets also contain the contact information of the authorities to reach out to if someone should feel like informing the police on the trail and whereabouts of the suspects. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar summoned Inspector General Punjab Inam Ghani for briefing on the case. The IGP has advised the prospect facilitators to rest assured on the secrecy of their identity and the reward money.
