KARACHI (92 News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil has accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of showing less population of the city through a conspiracy.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said that the PPP being a political party had always tried to capture the city instead of winning hearts of the people. “As a result of all conspiracies, we have to face injustices and deprivisions. We felt pertinent to aware masses about PPP's injustices in the Local Government Act. The Sindh government has not made a criterion for delimitations of constituencies,” he maintained.

The MQM leader said that the Sindh government had done delimitations of the constituencies for its own political benefits. “Somewhere it has made towns where population is less and somewhere it created a union council where population is much more. We also moved court against the local bodies system. In a notification issued on December 31, 26 towns have been mentioned. The officers have mentioned delimitations of 25 constituencies, but in reality 26 constituencies have been delimited,” he added.

Kanwar Naveed said that locals have not been consulted in the delimitations. “According to the new law, population of a town should be more than 0.5 million. There are many towns whose population is less than 0.5 million,” he concluded.
